The current implementation of the Email Backup tool relies on an external email client, which is not particularly convenient. Thanks to a post on the Kutuma's Ramblings blog, I was able to hack the Email Backup tool, so it sends the currently opened OpenOffice.org via Gmail without using an email client. Instead, the macro calls a simple Python script. The script and a tweaked version of the Writer’s Tools extension is available in the SVN repository for you testing pleasure.

I’ve been using laptops as my primary machines for years. Laterly, however, I found myself spending more time downstairs at my wife’s Mac mini with a nice 19” screen. Finally, after becoming a proud owner of a Linutop, I decided to replace my laptop with this nifty desktop machine. In case you wonder, here is what my workspace looks like right now:

I’ve released the very first version of a new note-taking, to-do tracking, do-everything application called Pygmynote. It is a simple command-line tool written in Python. As you would expect, this is a rather crude version containing only basic functionality, bu it is already usable. Pygmynote is available for download at the project's page. The latest development version is available in the project’s SVN repository.

Thanks to the Last Session extension, I’ve finally figured out how to save settings in an .ini file. This means that the problem of specifying the default browser in Writer’s Tools has been finally solved. Yay! If you want to see how this works, download the latest development version from the .
